Old Blog's Archived Posts

I've decided to incorporate my previous artist page and corresponding blog into this one. Below are the posts. If anyone actually cares enough about what I've had to say on on that site in the past, it's all pasted below.

It's time I got everything working on the site. So that's what I've set out to do today. Hopefully by the time you read this I will have made some great progress. Now on to more important things.

This past Saturday night was the debut of The Jessie Phillips Band. It went well. The venue is a small restaurant. The area comfortable seated about 40 people. Any more would have been standing room only. I figure that's not bad for a first show! We had a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to our next show.

I had a show scheduled this past Friday night with the jazz improv trio, but unfortunately that got canceled. I didn't find out about it until last minute. Of course I always hope many of you will come to my shows. This time I hope you didn't show up and there was nothing going on... Sorry for the lack of notice. It was too late by the time I found out.

I've slowly been working on a major overhaul of the site. Not a lot of new content has been added. There's a new layout, new color scheme, and new graphics though. Yes, I know a few internal links don't work. I'll fix that shortly. The media clips will be back for download soon. In the near future the menu at the left will be revised as well. Also I plan to add a archive section for the blog so you don't see a really long page each time the index file loads. I doubt most people will be too interested in reading months of blog back posts. If you're that uh...special kind of person, then the archive will be for you...stalker.

Major updates to the site today. I’ve changed the formatting, added the “About Me, Upcoming Performances, Media, My Experience, and Groups I Play With” pages, along with adding a Google Calendar to the Upcoming Performances page. I also uploaded some audio files, along with a few pictures to illustrate projects on the Media page.

In addition to work on this site, yesterday I also added a link on my Myspace to this site. Hey, this isn’t coming along too bad at all. Perhaps tomorrow I’ll order some business cards that include this site. I’ll try to begin getting content on the other pages as well. That’s all for now. Gotta go take ballroom and swing dance classes with my wonderful wife.

I’ve finally decided to put my site back up again. It’s been a long time since I’ve kept up with it. My current status as a musician pretty much requires that I do it though. I hope to make this site helpful for you, the reader, thereby saving myself a headache. Hopefully it will prove to be even a fun adventure.

Also don’t forget to check me out on myspace @

Ever felt like a complete putz? Yeah, me too. If that’s not enough self-abuse for you, go look your name up on Urban Dictionary. I did for my solo project. Here’s what it says below.

1. Jay Arthur

1. Taken from the old Cockney rhyming (London) slang "Jay Arthur Tank" for "wank" or "wanker" ("jerk" in the American diction). Used mostly to rephrase the phonetic vulgarity of words such as "wanker".

2. Can be used to cunningly/artfully to describe a man with no real friends. a "Jay Arthur" = a total wanker.

3. "Jay Arthur" in a modern context may be used a to dub a ridiculously self-loving person that likes to use words such as "psycho" abundantly and "real" philosophically without being able to actually define those words correctly and, ironically, embodies and personifies those very words he uses without realizing it. see wanker. see dumb-bre.

a Jay Arthur... a vulgar, shameless, truly tasteless individual who has no real friends because despite of what he may think of himself, will always be regarded with deep suspicion and never really liked - Mostly because he is a true wanker in the most literal and figurative sense.
